These are the facts about British Columbia's wildfire situation, according to the BC Wildfire Service dashboard at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Active fires: 247

Wildfires of note: One, the Shetland Creek fire, Kamloops Fire Centre.

Fires started in last 24 hours: 96

Out-of-control fires: 135

Active fire causes: Lightning 86 per cent, human 9 per cent, undetermined 5 per cent (percentages are rounded)

Firefighting staff deployed: 826

Aircraft deployed: 153

Area burned since April 1: 6,199 square kilometres
