These are the facts about British Columbia's wildfire situation, according to the BC Wildfire Service dashboard at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Active fires: 306

Wildfires of note: One, the Shetland Creek fire, Kamloops Fire Centre.

Fires started in last 24 hours: 81

Out-of-control fires: 180

Active fire causes: Lightning 84 per cent, human 8 per cent, undetermined 8 per cent (percentages are rounded)

Firefighting staff deployed: 967

Aircraft deployed: 173

Area burned since April 1: 6,157 square kilometres (recalculated by BC Wildfire Service)
