A wildfire that has caused an evacuation alert for the community of Seymour Arm is burning out of control and is 0% contained.
The Hunakwa Lake wildfire was first discovered July 9 and is burning nine kilometres southeast of the Shuswap community.
As of this morning, July 17, the wildfire is 1,100 hectares in size, according to the B.C. Wildfire Service.
An evacuation alert was issued earlier this week by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District for the entire community of Seymour Arm.
The fire was caused by a lightning strike, according to the wildfire service.
