BC Wildfire Service crews tackling a fire near Peachland now have it under control.

The wildfire at Spring Lake, roughly five kilometres from Peachland, was discovered yesterday, July 10, around 5 p.m., according to the BC Wildfire Service.

The wildfire service suspects the fire was human caused, and there are no area restrictions or evacuation alerts.

It's 2.6 hectares in size, and the most recent update from the wildfire service said there are two initial attack crews, one unit crew, two helicopters and air tankers responding.

The wildfire was spreading at a moderate rate, but crews were able to get in under control today.

The fire was never near any homes or structures.
