An early season wildfire burning north of Lytton has been brought under control, the B.C. Wildfire Service reports.

The blaze, located around four kilometres north of Lytton, was burning out of control yesterday, March 23.

The fire was downgraded in size after more accurate mapping today from an estimate of 150 hectares to 66 hectares, fire information officer Taylor MacDonald said.

She said the blaze is responding to firefighting efforts and is now classified as under control with no further spread expected.

“It’s one of those spring fires that pop up this time of year. Cooler evening temperatures helped bring it under control quickly,” MacDonald said.

The fire was first reported this past weekend.
