If you are looking for some New Year's Eve fun and a place to celebrate with friends and family, here are a few of the options you could pick from in the Thompson-Okanagan region.
There are New Year's events for adults only along with many family-friendly celebrations.
KAMLOOPS
This year, the Coast Hotel is throwing a New Year’s Eve Gala where guests are asked to “dress to impress.” For those looking for an adults-only event and a fancier night out with live music, this is the place to be. The event starts at 6 p.m. and includes a buffet dinner, drinks and live music by Rann Berry and his band. Guests must have bought tickets before the event.
Lincoln Haze, Kamloops’ cover band, will be hosting a New Year’s Eve party at Barside Lounge and Grill at the Chances Casino. The event is free and bubbly will be given out at midnight. Guests are expected at 9 p.m. and are advised to make a reservation ahead of time.
The Blue Grotto Nightclub will also be the host of live music with “Kamloops’ most dangerous band:” Forum. The doors open at 8 p.m. and it’s for adults only and attendees must make sure to get their tickets ahead of time.
Sun Peaks’ New Year’s Eve celebrations will start at 6 p.m. and end at 8:30 p.m. and will be accessible to all resort-goers. The event will start off with a live DJ set followed by the Sun Peaks Freestyle Club High Performance Takeover, the Kids Glow Stick Parade and the Torchlight Parade ending it all with a fireworks show.
KELOWNA
The City of Kelowna is ringing in the new year with their Valley First New York New Year’s celebration at the Stuart Park Ice Rink. This free event is family-friendly and goes from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Event-goers will have live music entertainment, a “snow zone,” public skating and food trucks. It’s the place to be to celebrate the New Year with the family.
For an old Las Vegas-themed New Year’s Eve party, head to Bernie’s Supper Club and Cinema which will be holding an event for adults only, hosted by Ricky Diamonds. The event begins at 8 p.m. with guests' red carpet entrance and will be followed by a DJ set and entertainment provided by Ricky Diamond. Make sure to book your tickets ahead of the event.
Those who are looking for some country glam should go to the O.K. Corral Cabaret which is hosting a 19+ black tie affair New Year’s Eve party as of 8 p.m. Specially curated food and drinks and some DJ sets are on the agenda, make sure to book your tickets in advance.
Those who will be hitting the slopes at Big White as they welcome 2024, can expect a DJ set, some free hot chocolate and a free skating rink at Happy Valley, and at 9 p.m. the New Year’s Eve fireworks will be launched.
VERNON
Vernon’s Marten Brewing Co. is hosting two DJs and two bands to celebrate the new year in this 19+ event. The tickets for the event will include a home-brewed craft beer and a glass of bubbly at midnight.
The Historical O’Keefe Ranch will be hosting a New Years Eve weekend “Wedding Party” Extravaganza where one couple is set to get married as wedding crashers are invited to indulge in some champagne, wedding cake and New Year’s celebration. Tickets must be bought prior to the event.
SilverStar Mountain will also host a family-friendly event starting much earlier, at 4:30 p.m. where they will invite skiers to their touch light parade. Guests will ski in three different lineups creating a Milky Way illusion and once they reach the bottom of the gondola, a firework show will light up the sky.
PENTICTON
Penticton’s Barley Mill Brew Pub will be hosting an adults-only New Year’s Eve dinner party where guests will have the choice between a one or three-course meal and some live entertainment, karaoke and a champagne toast. The dinner starts at 5 p.m. and reservations are recommended.
The HUB on Martin is hosting Kelowna’s alternative rock band CRUSH XO for live entertainment. The event is for adults only and starts at 7 p.m. and will go on until 2 a.m. Champagne and Chips and Pico de Gallo will be served at midnight. Walk-in tickets will be limited so guests should buy their tickets in advance.
The Apex Mountain Resort will light up the sky on the Okanagan Run with some fireworks. The first fireworks show is at 6 p.m. and then again at midnight to ring in the new year.
These are only a few of the events happening to celebrate the end of 2023 and the beginning of the new year. Anyone interested in attending any of these events should book their tickets fast as they are rapidly selling out.
