Where to go New Year's Eve in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS – Another year is coming to a close and whether 2015 was the best of times or the worst, you deserve a glass of champagne when the clock strikes midnight on New Year's Eve.

Sun Peaks Resort has all kinds of events planned on Thursday, Dec. 31:

First Flight Big Air

This event is a demonstration skiing and riding skill. Only advanced skiiers may apply to take part. First Flight takes place between 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. in the Rockstar Energy Terrain Park.

Snowshoe Marshmallow Roast

Snowshoe in Sun Peaks this New Year's Eve. Guides will take you through trails in the forest to a winter camp where you can drink hot apple cider while roasting marshmallows around a campfire. Snowshoeing begins at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $45 for adults, $40 for youths and seniors, and $24 for children.

Glow Stick and Torchlight Parades

The Kids Glowstick Parade and Torchlight Parades are a display of lights descending the mountain on skis and snowboards. Children taking part in the glowstick parade must be able to ski or ride Sunbeam on the Village Platter with confidence. The minimum age to participate is 5 years. There is a maximum of 100 spots available and festivities begin at 7:45 p.m. All torchlight participants must register and complete a waiver in person. The minimum age to participate is 14 and registration is limited to 180. The parade begins just after the kids’ Glow Stick parade at 8 p.m. with fireworks to follow at 8:30 p.m. The event is free to attend.

A Grand New Year’s Eve Black and White Affair

The Sun Peaks Grand offers a buffet dinner and dancing to the music of the band Xtreme Radio this New Years Eve. Tickets are $70 for the entire night of $30 to enjoy the band only. Doors open at 6 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., respectively. Tickets can be purchased at The Sun Peaks Grand.

Sun Peaks doesn't have a monopoly on New Year's Eve events.

Here's what else is happening in Kamloops:

New Year's Eve at The Club

Dance your night away to the music of Hertz Donut with special guests DJ Jayse Aspey and Weston. Doors open 9 p.m. Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at The Club and Masa's Bar and Grill.

New Year's Eve at the Barnhartvale Hall

The Barnhartvale Community Hall hosts a New Year's Eve dance and will include party favours, midnight snacks and door prizes. Tickets are $15 each and available at Happy Valley Foods.

New Year's Eve 80s Dance Party at the Kamloops Curling Club

Join the curling club for a 1980s themed dance party. There will be video games, drink specials, champagne and prizes for best the dressed attendee. Tickets are available at the Kamloops Curling Club.

Colombo Lodge Italian Cultural Centre

The Italian Cultural Centre hosts a New Year’s Eve dance with cocktails starting at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. with dancing to follow. Tickets are $60 for members and $80 for non-member. Prices include a midnight snack and champagne.

Coast Kamloops Hotel and Conference Centre

Chef Romeo Oloresisimo plans an exclusive dinner buffet complete with wine, party favors and champagne at midnight. Entertainment features the musical stylings of Shattered Blue all for $67.

Fireside Steakhouse and Bar

Chef Mike Swann promises a special four-course dinner to celebrate New Year's Eve at Fireside. The dinner costs $60 per person with an additional $25 for wine pairings. Two seating times are available at 5:30 to 8 p.m. and 8:30 to 11 p.m.

Hoodoos at Sun Rivers

Enjoy a four-course dinner at Hoodoos at Sun Rivers Golf Resort created by Chef Steven Doucet at $59 per person. Reservations begin at 4:30 p.m.

Cascades Casino

Cascades Casino Kamloops promises live entertainment, party favours and a countdown to midnight. The event is free to all those who join.

CJ’s Nightclub

CJ’s will have three give aways and champagne at midnight. Tickets are $10 and are available at CJ's Nightclub, Life.Ink.Tattoo or contact a TRU Wolfpack Cheerleader. This party runs until 4 a.m.

On the Rocks

On The Rocks promises a "groovy" night of classic music from the band Groove Machine plus party favors, midnight champagne and special photos of the night. Tickets are $60 per pair and includes a bottle of champagne and reserved seating. General Admin is $20.

Pogue Mahone Irish Alehouse

Enjoy the musical stylings of the Scattered Atoms at Pogue Mahone. Tickets are $20 before the event and $25 at the door and include a shot of your choice at midnight. Doors open at 8:30 p.m.

The Shark Club

The Shark Club features a Phantom Masquerade where guests will only reveal their identity at midnight. The night includes Vancouver DJ Ketafere plus drink specials, party favours and a champagne toast at midnight.

The Blue Grotto

Ring in the New Year with some great live music from the band Fourplay at the Blue Grotto. Tickets are $20 and doors open at 8 p.m.

Lucid New Year's Eve at the Office Pub and Grill

The Office Pub and Grill promises live music with special guest DJs to be announced. Tickets are $20 and doors open at 8 p.m.
