Remembrance Day ceremonies will be held in communities across the Okanagan and Kamloops on Saturday Nov. 11, giving residents time to pay respects to those who served the country during wartime, and remember those who died on the battlefields.
Here are a few options in several cities to choose from.
In Penticton, a Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. The doors open at 9 a.m. and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 40 will collect at the parking lot in front of the Memorial Arena at 10 a.m. The main ceremony inside the centre starts at 10:30 a.m. and those in attendance are to be seated by 10:15 a.m. A moment of silence will be observed at 11 a.m.
Following the ceremonies, the Legion will open to offer stew, and chili and buns by donation with musical entertainment to follow. The Convention Centre is located at 273 Power Street and the Legion is at 502 Martin Street.
In Summerland a parade of Legion members, veterans and the Summerland Pipe Band leaves Wharton Street at 10:30 a.m. and marches to the cenotaph at Memorial Park. At 11 a.m. There will be two minutes of silence before the service begins. The Legion will open at noon and at 2:30 p.m. there will be musical entertainment. A Remembrance Day Dinner is at 5 p.m. Tickets are available at the branch for members, where veterans and their caregivers can eat for free but tickets must be purchased in advance.
Members of RCMP, cadets, the scouts, guides and first responders are invited to the legion for refreshments and lunch. Donation for Food Bank Christmas Hampers will be accepted at the legion until Dec. 15. The Summerland Legion is located at 14205 Rosedale Avenue.

The Remembrance Ceremony in Peachland begins at 10:30 a.m. at Cenotaph Park with a reception to follow at the Legion Branch #69. The bar will be open from 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. There will be sandwiches and desserts and live entertainment from a local band all afternoon. The Cenotaph is located at Beach Avenue and 2nd Street and the Peachland Legion is located at 4407 – 2nd Street.
In West Kelowna a Remembrance Day ceremony will be hosted by the Westbank Branch 288 of the Royal Canadian Legion at Royal LePage Place. There will be a parade at 10 a.m. with the service starting at 10:45 a.m. and moment of silence at 11 a.m. The Legion will be open offering beverages after the service. Royal LePage Place is located at 2760 Cameron Road and the Legion is at 2525 Dobbin Road.
Hosted by Branch 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Remembrance Day ceremony in Kelowna starts with a parade that will leave from Bernard Avenue and Water Street at 10:45 a.m. and march toward to the cenotaph at City Park. The service runs from 11 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. before the parade marches to the Queensway traffic circle.
There will be food, beverages and music on offer at the Parkinson Rec Centre until 3 p.m. and the Legion will host an open house from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Parkinson Rec Centre is located at 1800 Parkinson Way and the Kelowna Legion is at 1380 Bertram Street.

In Vernon, the Remembrance Day service will take place at Kal Tire Place, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 and the City of Vernon. Doors open at 9:30 followed by music. At 10:25 a.m. a parade of veterans, first responders, cadets, cubs and scouts will march before the service begins at 10:35 a.m. Two minutes of silence will be observed at 11 a.m. Anyone who wants to gather together can stay at the location to have hot chocolate, coffee and treats. Kal Tire Place is located at 3445 43rd Avenue.
The Remembrance Day ceremony in Kamloops is taking place at the main cenotaph in the city at Riverside Park, hosted by the Kamloops Royal Canadian Legion and the City of Kamloops. Ceremonies begin at 10:45 a.m. At 10:55 a.m. the Colour Party and Veterans Company march from the Heritage House to the cenotaph for the service.

Refreshments and gathering will take place after at the Legion at 425 Lansdowne Street and at Anavets 290 Club at 177 Tranquille Road.
