What better way to spend the day with the one you love than getting creative and showing off your art skills? A paint and sip night at home with canvases and paint from the Dollar Store, or even from foraged materials, and a cheap bottle of wine can be a cost effective way to celebrate with the one you love. Whether it's painting each other’s portraits, showing your partner how you see them, or painting a Valentine's Day themed image, this quality bonding time will bring out your inner child and take you back to what Valentine's Day is really all about. What’s even better is these paintings can then be gifted to your partner for something to cherish for years to come.

It is pretty well known that sharing food is a great way to grow closer to someone, so why not try out cooking a new recipe? Dishes like Osso Buco with risotto, using inexpensive beef or veal shanks are a labour of love, though love isn’t the only ingredient. What was known originally as a ‘peasant’s dish’ due to the cheap cuts of meat and accessible vegetables became a delicacy filled with carrots, celery and onions to chop, meat to braise, and hours to cook and perfect. If meat isn’t your thing, try to recreate this dish with mushrooms, eggplant or any other meat substitution. This simple dish turns to an act of love and is sure to impress your partner.
