Parks in Kamloops and the Okanagan will be packed with events this Canada Day long weekend as communities celebrate.

Multiple cities will host fireworks this year too, including Kamloops and Kelowna.

Riverside Park will host Canada Day celebrations in Kamloops, starting with a pancake breakfast at 7 a.m.

Events will continue all day with Art in the Park, music and a Folkfest. The night ends with a bang as fireworks are tentatively scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. Check out the event schedule here.

Plans could change as fire conditions and weather could risk cancelling the event, the City said.

Buses will be free throughout the day, including HandyDART, according to BC Transit.

Kelowna hosts the largest celebration in the Okanagan and includes live music and a Folkfest.

Most events will be a Waterfront Park where there will be three stages and a kid's zone at Pioneer Gardens. Nearby Prospera Place will host the 48th annual FolkFest from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

It will close with fireworks over the lake at 10 p.m. but the Kelowna Fire Department has taken the extra step to remind the public fireworks are not permitted within city limits without a permit.

BC Transit is adding service on routes 97, 10 and 11 to get people to and from downtown events.

The City of West Kelowna won't host its fireworks display on Canada Day, but residents can check out the Westside Daze display at Gellatly Bay at 10:45 p.m. on July 8.

South Okanagan residents can catch multiple events in Penticton on July 1, with a dedicated Canada Day celebration at Gyro Park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. At the other side of the city, Skaha Lake Park will be hosting Ribfest from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.

If you're looking for some shopping, the Penticton Farmers' Market will be set up on the 100 block of Main Street.

The Penticton Scottish Festival will host Highland dancing, live performances and a beverage garden at King's Park.

At 10 p.m., the fireworks display will launch at Okanagan Lake Park. However, the park will be closed all day from 11 a.m. to midnight for set up, including the dog park.

BC Transit buses will be free for the day on routes 5 and 16, with a free shuttle service to connect people to Gyro Park, Ribfest and the Scottish Festival from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Most of the region will host fireworks displays, including Peachland, which is set to launch its display at 10:30 p.m. from Cenotaph Park following a day of events along Beach Avenue.

In the North Okanagan, Vernon's Canada Day celebrations will be at Polson Park, hosted by the Polson Artisan Market. There will be no fireworks in the city, but the day will be full of events like music, kids activities and a skateboard competition.

Residents can find Canada Day celebrations at Historic O'Keefe Ranch for a more rustic and historic-themed experience.
