More than 10 millimetres of rain was recorded at the Kelowna airport yesterday, more rain than the city has received in most months in the past year.
The 10.3 mm of precipitation yesterday, Sept. 26, was the wettest day since Nov. 4, 2022 when 14.1 mm of precipitation was recorded – which fell as the first snowfall of the winter.
During the summer, only 6.4 mm of rain fell in all of August and 8.6 mm in July, according to data from Environment Canada.
The wettest month this year was May when a total of 20.5 mm fell, including the previous single day high of 9.6 mm on May 22.
At the end of July, Kelowna had recorded only 44% of its normal rainfall for the period from November 2022 through to July.

Yesterday was also a wet day in Vernon where 10.5 mm was recorded. That was its wettest day since Nov. 5, 2022 when 13.2 mm of precipitation was recorded.
Penticton had a negligible 0.3 mm of rain yesterday. The city's last big rainfall was May 21 when 14.8 mm fell.
No rain was recorded in Kamloops yesterday.
