KAMLOOPS - A big change in the weather is predicted for Kamloops as the weekend approaches.
Environment Canada meteorologist Doug Lundquist says much cooler weather is on the way for the weekend, with showers on Saturday lingering into Sunday.
Kamloops may reach a daytime high temperature of 40 Celsius today, Aug. 9, although the smoky skies may prevent that record-breaking high from being reached, Lundquist says. A heat warning remains in effect for the city.
Lundquist says it will be hot again tomorrow, with a high of 37 C before a cold front makes its way into the region tomorrow evening, bringing with it wind and possible showers and thundershowers.
Expect a mix of sun and cloud on Sunday with a 70 per cent chance of showers and a high of 28 C. The showers will continue overnight with the low down to 15 C.
For Sunday, the forecast calls for rain and a high of 23, with cloudy periods and a low of 13 C overnight.
It's back to the sunshine, and more seasonally normal temperatures on Monday, with a high of 29 C.
Normal temperatures for this time of year in Kamloops are highs of 29 C and lows of 14 C.
