ESTEVAN – The West Kelowna Warriors blanked the host Estevan Bruins 3-0 at the Western Canada Cup.

Warriors’ goaltender Matthew Greenfield made 30 saves for the shutout last night, April 30, in the team’s first game at the Western Canadian Junior ‘A’ Hockey Championships.

Brett Mennear had two goals on the night, while Reed Gunville had one.

In the tournament’s other game yesterday, the MJHL champion Portage Terriers edged the Melfort Mustangs from the SJHL 2-1.

The Warriors will play Portage on Tuesday and the Mustangs on Thursday.

The top two teams emerging from this tournament go on to the national championship. The RBC Cup starts May 14 in Lloydminster, Alberta.
