A 55-year-old Kelowna man with no criminal record, a 36-year-old once jailed for domestic violence and a 34-year-old armed robber, have all been charged in relation to an armed kidnapping in Kelowna.

Daniel Gilles Archambault, 36, David Apollo Sheremeto, 55, and Zackary Jard Purdy, 34, are all facing multiple charges for the armed kidnapping of Joshua Marsh.

Precise details of what is alleged to have taken place aren't yet known, but the charges say the three men violently assaulted March and pointed handguns at him while kidnapping him.

Purdy is also charged with firing a shot.

The incident took place Dec. 6, 2024, in Kelowna and the three men were charged a week later.

Purdy remains in custody, while the other two men were released on bail.

The oldest of the three, Sheremeto, doesn't have a criminal record in BC, which is unusual for someone in their 50s facing serious charges. In 2022, an online fundraiser garnered $3,725 after he was in a motorcycle accident with his youngest daughter.

In contrast, Purdy's criminal record started when he was 21 and includes various stints in jail in Alberta.

In 2013, Purdy was accused of being the ringleader in a kidnapping in Ponoka, Alberta, over a $200 drug debt, according to local media.

The kidnapping charge was later dropped and Purdy was jailed for two and a half years for armed robbery.

In the same Alberta town in 2015, Archambault received a two year jail sentence for assaulting his then-girlfriend.

Local media reported his girlfriend was driving and he was looking for his cocaine. When he couldn't find it he began hitting her while wearing gloves with plastic knuckle coverings.

Archambault also has upcoming court appearances for possession for the purpose of trafficking, along with co-accused Lindsay Erin Nixon, who appears to spend her time between Kelowna and Red Deer, Alberta. The charges date back to February 2024 in West Kelowna.

The victim doesn't have much of a criminal record but is due in court next week in two separate cases of driving without a licence and then resisting arrest.

None of the recent charges have been proven in court.
