West Kelowna seeks public input on carriage houses

WEST KELOWNA - The District of West Kelowna is beginning a two month consultation process to find out if the community is in favour of seeing carriage houses in the neighbourhood.

Often referred to as a granny suite, garden flat, laneway house or coach house, a carriage house is a smaller second home on a property where a residence already exists.

According to a district press release, the mayor and council are also interested to know what kind of restrictions people will want if they are in favour of the structures.

The easiest way to provide input is online at www.districtofwestkelowna.ca using the Carriage House Survey link on the homepage. The online survey will be open until February 15, 2015.

Planning staff will also receive community feedback at public outreach events and coffee house discussions at:

-  Save On Foods, December 14 and January 18, 1 to 3 p.m.
-  Kelowna Warriors games at Royal LePage Place, December 16 and January 20, 6:45 to 8 p.m.
-  Mar Jok Elementary Multipurpose Room, February 5, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., free coffee
-  Westbank Lions Community Hall, February 10, 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., free coffee
