WEST KELOWNA – Charges of attempted murder have been laid against a man police say shot someone during an altercation in West Kelowna last month.

Charles William Maskell, 59, was one of two men arrested Dec. 2, 2016 after a shooting on Granada Crescent in the Glenrosa neighbourhood shortly after noon.

Neighbours at the time said five RCMP vehicles and an ambulance were on scene and a man was taken away in an ambulance.

A media release from Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said the victim suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries.

Police also arrested a 33-year-old West Kelowna man believed to be connected to the incident but there is no co-accused, according to court records.

“The ongoing police investigation has resulted in the execution of two warrants at the home related to the shooting incident,” O’Donaghey said shortly after the shooting. “Investigators have recovered evidence related to the initial shooting investigation, as well as uncovered evidence to suggest that the home was being used in the trafficking of illicit drugs including suspected cocaine and GHB.”

Police were called to this home in Glenrosa Dec. 2, 2016 for reports of shots fired.
