A grass fire that took off shortly before 11:30 a.m. today, July 7, was quickly knocked down by West Kelowna Fire Rescue.

Crews on the scene found a fire that was growing in size at the base of a B.C. Hydro pole in a field off Boucherie Road.

Thirteen firefighters from the Westbank, Lakeview Heights and Rose Valley fire stations joined in the firefighting efforts.

“Preliminary indications are that the cause of the fire may be electrical in nature,” says a news release from West Kelowna Fire Rescue issued at 1:26 p.m. “Presently, there is a power outage in the immediate area.”
