West Kelowna Fire Rescue put out a blaze that engulfed a duplex this morning.
Firefighters were called to a four-unit residential duplex on Old Boucherie Road just after 8 a.m. today, May 29, according to a press release from West Kelowna Fire Rescue.
Crews had to fight the fire from the outside before moving inside the building to put the fire out. Everyone in the building made it out safely except for a cat, but firefighters were able to go in and save it.
One resident had minor injuries from the smoke, and the people who have been displaced are getting help from regional emergency support services.
First responders included five engines, one tender, one utility, three safeties and one command unit, with support from WFN Bylaw, RCMP, BC Ambulance, ESS, Fortis BC, and BC Hydro.
The fire isn’t suspicious, but it’s still being investigated.
