KELOWNA - At approximately 9.45 p.m. last night, West Kelowna Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire on Michelle Crescent in Lakeview Heights.

There were no injuries to any of the five residents. Everyone was evacuated safely and are now in the care of Emergency Support Services.

First crews on scene discovered flames through the roof and around a chimney, says Brent Watson, WKFR Assistant Fire Chief. The blaze then spread quickly through the roof.

A quick interior attack by firefighters stopped the fire from spreading across the entire roof and upper floor of the house, Watson says in a release.

Fire crews checked the rooftop to ensure the fire was completely out. Thermal imaging cameras were used to look for any remaining hot spots behind the walls.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but WKFR says it likely began in the walls around the chimney.
