West Kelowna Fire Rescue is looking for applicants who want to be paid on-call firefighters.
The fire department is offering a paid, nine-month training program for applicants who meet their requirements, according to a City of West Kelowna media release. It doesn't say how many positions are available.
As long as applicants are at least 19 years old, have their grade 12, are physically fit and live in West Kelowna with a valid driver’s license they can qualify.
The first information session is at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27, at Glenrosa Fire Hall Station 34, 399 Gates Rd.
The training program will take place in the evenings on weekdays and on weekends.
West Kelowna firefighters are on-call 365 days a year and may be called to provincial and federal emergencies like wildfires.
