A West Kelowna city councillor has been selected by BC United to run in the next provincial election.

Stephen Johnston, 38, will be the party's candidate in the West Kelowna-Peachland riding, according to a BC United media release issued today, Feb. 12.

"Our communities deserve strong representation and I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure my community and future generations have the best access to things like housing, healthcare, education and public safety," Johnston said in the release.

Johnston's candidacy was announced by the party at the same time as Lehann Wallace's for the riding of Ladysmith-Oceanside on Vancouver Island.

The BC Election will take place on or before Oct. 19.
