Special Events / Fundraising:

Children’s Art Festival Friday, September 15 & Saturday, September 16  Volunteers needed! Wednesday, September 13, Friday and Saturday, September 15 and 16. September 13 - Bag Stuffing (4-8 volunteers) - 10:30am-4:00pm. September 15 Decorating (2 volunteers) - 2-3:30pm. September 16 – Setup –7-10:00am. Greeter-Fundraising (6-10 volunteers) 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm or all day. Workshop (4-6 volunteers) 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm or all day. Movie Booth (1-2 volunteers) 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm or all day. Photographer Assistant (1-2 volunteers) 10am-1pm or 1pm-4pm or all day. Take Down (8 volunteers) 4-6pm. URGENT: Developing World Connections-Administrative Assistant - Closing Date Sep 8th 2017  DWC is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual whose primary role is to support the office staff through clerical and administrative duties. This position would provide valuable experience for an administrative management student or anyone with a passion for international development or travel. Volunteers are highly valued members of the DWC team and contribute to making a significant difference in DWC’s ability to alleviate poverty and promote social justice around the world. HOURS: 1 year commitment for minimum of 16 hours a week (preferably Monday-Friday) between 8:30am and 4:30pm. COMPENSATION: Fully paid two weeks DWC International Volunteer Experience with Flights (approx. value of $4,000). 3 weeks vacation per year; in addition DWC will provide a reference letter for the volunteer who successfully completes the placement. URGENT: Overlander Residential Care, Interior Health- Trinity Care Volunteers  Assist in short stay 4 bed area Community Hospice. 1-1 visiting, reading to patients, preparing coffee/light refreshments. Supplying books, magazines, puzzles, etc. Supporting families as needed. Willing and able to take the 30+ hours Hospice Training. CNIB Kamloops – Vision Mate to provide community-based support; one-on-one sighted assistance and companionship for a person who is blind or partially sighted. Volunteer should be trustworthy, empathetic and friendly with excellent communication skills. Must have very strong English skills or willing to be matched with a client who speaks your native language. Orientation provided with training specific to the position.  18+ to volunteer. Alzheimer Society of BC – Walk Committee Chair or Co-Chair Responsible for leading and motivating a volunteer committee which in turn is responsible for the successful staging of the Investors Group Walk for Alzheimer’s fundraising event in May 2018. New Life Community Kamloops – Thrift Store Volunteers Thrift City is a busy, non-profit thrift store and is looking for volunteers for many different positions such as sorting, pricing, stocking, organizing and displaying products, moving stock, cashier and customer service duties and light janitorial duties. 16+ to volunteer. The Gleaning Abundance Program is looking for Harvest Leaders to help ensure the success of each and every pick. The Harvest Leaders make sure all gleaning volunteers know how to pick and sort the fruit and use a ladder safely. They weigh the harvest, coordinate the split and delivery. Must be personable, responsible, reliable people 18+. Harvest season June to November 7 days a week, 8am – 6pm.Contact Sandra Frangiadakis, Project Coordinator – 250-851-6111.
