Weekend activities have a festive flavour

PENTICTON - Christmas activities include some excellent opportunities to hone your Christmas culinary skills as local wineries host pairing events for the holiday season in this weekend’s list of things to do in the South Okanagan.

Home for the Holidays food and wine pairing take place at the Jackson-Triggs & Inniskillin Winery at 7587 Tucelnuit Drive in Oliver on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15 and 16 starting at 2 p.m. The cost is $35 per person.

The Perfect Union Holiday Feast takes place Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15 and 16 at 2 p.m. at Nk’Mip Cellars, 1400 Ranch Road in Osoyoos. The cost is $45 per person.

There’s also a Wine and Cheese “perfect pairing” event taking place at Great Estates Wine Experience Centre at 21 Lakeshore Drive in Penticton. Learn the secrets of creating perfect pairings for all types of chess and red and white wines. The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15 and 16 from noon to 1 p.m. at a cost of $25.

The Dear Santa: A Leir House Christmas Craft Show takes place this weekend. Vendors gather at Leir House to provide last minute, unique items for everyone on your Christmas list. The Craft show runs Saturday, Dec. 15 and Sunday, Dec. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Leir House Cultural Centre.

Three Days Grace “The Outsider Tour” performs at the South Okanagan Events Centre on Saturday, Dec. 15, starting at 6 p.m., with special guests Nothing More and Bad Wolves. Tickets are $29, $49 and $59.

Bring your kids for a visit with Santa at Cannery Brewing on Saturday, Dec. 15 from 2 to 4 p.m. Visits are by donation, with full proceeds going to the South Okanagan Children’s Charity.

From now until Monday, Dec. 17, you can donate $25 to choose and autograph a Christmas ornament that will be used to decorate Penticton’s iconic Peach concession. On Monday, Dec. 17 at 6:30 p.m. there will be a countdown to light up the Peach, with Christmas carols, hot chocolate and dancing in a Christmas community celebration.
