The Victoria Royals defeated the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 on Thursday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Arena in Victoria to open up a 1-0 series lead in the team's Round 2 WHL Playoffs series.
Dante Hannoun scored the game-winning-goal early in the second period to give Victoria the win.
Tyson Baillie had the lone Rockets goal, scoring his first of the WHL Playoffs while Michael Herringer made 29 saves in the loss.
The Rockets outshot Victoria 41-31 in the game. Both teams were 0-for-4 on the power play.
Game two in the series is Saturday night in Victoria before the series will shift to Kelowna for games three and four next Tuesday and Thursday at Prospera Place.
