Via Rail has cancelled all of its Christmas Eve trains along the most populated corridor in Canada.
Two dozen trains were cancelled along the Quebec City – Windsor Corridor, according to Via’s website. The railway is blaming “extreme weather conditions and resulting consequences.”
At least one train appears to have gotten stuck overnight.
“We’re approaching hour 17,” stranded passenger Eric Herrington said on Twitter.
“Pregnant women are starving without food or water. People are jumping off of your train and walking through snow because you’ve done nothing. Ambulances are coming. This isn’t the hunger games.”
Other passengers are unable to get in touch with loved ones who boarded the trains in Eastern Canada yesterday.
