Vernon RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk off duty for good

RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk

VERNON - He was a well known face at the police station and on the news, but you won't be seeing Vernon's longtime RCMP spokesperson anymore.

Gord Molendyk, who served over as an RCMP officer, and then a media spokesperson, for over 40 years has announced he’s retiring.

“My job over the years working with all of the media outlets was one of my most challenging yet rewarding jobs that I had,” Molendyk said in his final email.

RCMP Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy will be taking over media relations until the detachment decides what to do with the position, which is run through the City of Vernon.

Not all detachments have full time media relations officers, and it is unknown how the city and the RCMP will decide how to fill the position.
