Vernon RCMP search Salmon River Road property, make one arrest

Curtis Sagmoen leaves the Vernon courthouse in this Sept. 9, 2019 photo.

Vernon RCMP have confirmed one person was arrested yesterday, Oct. 29, after police searched a property on Salmon River Road.

The individual, who has not been named by the RCMP, was later released and police say no charges have been laid as yet.

Vernon RCMP said it executed a search warrant in the 2000 block of Salmon River Road, but do not specify an exact address.

Eyewitnesses reported a heavy police presence at Curtis Sagmoen's Salmon River Road property throughout the evening of Oct. 29. A neighbour told iNFOnews.ca police arrived late in the afternoon and stayed until around midnight. She said as many as 10 police vehicles were on the scene.

The Sagmoen property has been the focus of attention again recently after three people with connections to the sex industry were found in a vehicle near the Salmon River Road property. The incident caused police to issue a public statement warning anyone involved in sex work to stay away from the area.

Police have not released any other details.
