Vernon RCMP search for suspect in gas station robbery

FILE PHOTO

VERNON - RCMP are on the hunt for a suspect in connection to a late-night armed robbery at a gas station in Vernon.

Officers responded to reports of a gas station robbery at 11 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 1, in the 2400 block of 34th Street, according to an RCMP media release.

A man wearing a Deadpool mask entered the gas station, demanded money and threatened staff with a knife, police say. The suspect became impatient and helped himself to a drink and a small toy before rushing out without any cash.

No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect wasn’t located, despite an extensive search.

The suspect was wearing a red and white Deadpool mask and a red T-shirt under a checkered red and black long sleeve shirt, black pants and black sneakers.

Anyone with any information about the incident is asked to contact the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171. Those wishing to stay anonymous can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, or leave a tip online at www.nokscrimestoppers.com.
