VERNON - Police are looking for a man who robbed a Vernon gas station last week and was caught on camera while he committed the crime.

Around 9:15 p.m. July 26, a man entered the Petro Canada gas station on 25 Avenue and produced what appeared to be a handgun, Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says in a media release issued today, Aug. 2.

The suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise and fled on foot. Police were unable to locate him.

“There were no customers in the store when this incident occurred,” Noseworthy says. “The adult female employee, while not physically harmed, was left shaken by the ordeal.”

The suspect was caught on the store’s video surveillance and is described as in his mid-20s, Caucasian, with brown hair and a thin build. He was wearing a Blue Jays baseball cap, a dark jacket, black sweatpants and multicoloured shoes.

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Vernon/North Okanagan RCMP at (250) 545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1(800) 222-8477.
