VERNON – If you have had things stolen from your vehicle or your property in Vernon recently, the RCMP would like to speak with you.
RCMP appear to be building a case against a man arrested during an investigation into the possible theft of things like tools and frozen food in the upper and lower Foothills area.
Vernon RCMP spokesperson Const. Kelly Brett says in a media release officers arrested a man while investigating the possible thefts. He was taken into custody on unrelated outstanding warrants.
Police are looking to identify possible victims of theft during the night of Oct. 22 and the early morning hours of Oct. 23 in the area of Silver Star Road and L & A Road.
“Often times victims fail to report thefts to police given the value of goods stolen was low, however suspects are often caught with property on their person that clearly does not belong to them,” Brett says.
“If police cannot relate the suspected stolen property to a particular incident or victim, charges cannot be recommended to court.”
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Const. Eric Beaulieu at the Vernon RCMP detachment at 250-545-7171 and reference file number 2018-25254.
