VERNON - Police are investigating an assault that left one man in hospital with serious injuries Monday morning.

Police responded to the 3000 block of 40 Avenue Jan. 23 after a local man sustained serious injuries in an altercation with another individual, Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy says.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Noseworthy could not say as of Wednesday morning, Jan. 25 if the injuries were considered life-threatening.

Police believe the two people involved knew each other and say the attack was not random.

Officers held the scene on Monday and Tuesday in order for evidence to be gathered.

At this point, police do not have anyone in custody.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
