Vernon RCMP are asking for the public’s help with a suspicious death investigation after a man’s body was found downtown.
Police responded to a report about a dead body around 7 a.m. on Dec. 9, according to a press release from police.
Cory Fregin, 55, was found dead in a creek in the wooded area between 31 Avenue and the FreshCo building. His body was found towards the north end of the park.
“The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP’s Serious Crime Unit has taken conduct of the investigation and are reaching out to the public for information about this death,” Cpl. Tania Finn said in the release. “Cory was found wearing a red and black plaid jacket and we are requesting anyone who saw this man in this area on December 8 or December 9 to reach out to police.”
Anyone with information about Fregin’s death, his whereabouts on Dec. 8 and Dec. 9, dash camera footage of Fregin or any suspicious activity near the creek, is asked to contact Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or leaving a tip online.
