VERNON - A 29-year-old man is facing numerous charges after two separate vehicle hit and run collisions in Vernon construction zone last week.

On Wednesday, May 30, Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP were called to a report of a Blue GMC pickup truck that had rear-ended a white Honda Civic on Highway 97 near Stickle Road in Vernon.

Police said the pickup truck failed to remain on scene and continued to drive southbound on Highway 97 where the same pickup truck collided with a Ministry of Transportation vehicle.

The driver of the truck then exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, and the suspect was gone when police arrived.

Police say they arrested the suspect yesterday, June 3. The man was located on a property in the Spallumcheen area and was arrested without incident.

The man is scheduled to appear in court today, June 4, and is facing charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, driving while prohibited and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
