VERNON - RCMP are hunting suspects in connection to a break and enter last night at a house under construction in the development at the end of Tronson Road in Vernon.
Just before midnight yesterday, Dec. 18, officers responded to a report of a break and enter in progress in an under-construction home in the Kastrel Place area, according to an RCMP media release. Officers found no one at the scene.
RCMP say a police service dog established a track, but the suspects were not found. A stolen vehicle associated with the break and enter was recovered. It contained a firearm.
RCMP believe the thieves were attempting to steal tools at the site. Police noted that tool thefts have increased sharply over the last few months.
The investigation is ongoing.
