VERNON - Six people were taken into custody after a Vernon man suffered severe injuries in an assault last night.

RCMP say at 5 p.m. on Jan. 30 officers responded to a report of a 58-year-old man who had been assaulted and endured serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Police connected the assault to a home at the 1700 block of 33 Street, where they took six people of interest into custody, according to a Vernon RCMP media release. Three suspects are still in custody at this time.

“Investigators are currently in the early evidence gathering stages of their investigation and believe the occurrence was a targeted act,” said Const. Kelly Brett in the release.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to call Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171, or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
