The RCMP has confirmed the man that died at SilverStar Mountain Resort, Dec. 18, was a Vernon resident in their 40s.
According to a Vernon North Okanagan RCMP media release, the snowboarder died in the Putnam Creek area of the mountain.
"The initial investigation has determined the man was snowboarding in an area of complex terrain that was closed at the time due to poor conditions," the media release says.
Police say the snowboarder was alone and fell into a ravine.

A skier noticed the man's snowboard sticking out of the snow.
"Sadly, despite the attempt of rescuers, efforts to resuscitate the individual were unsuccessful and he was declared deceased at the scene," Vernon RCMP const. Chris Terleski said in the release. "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased, those who attempted to rescue him, and everyone impacted by this tragedy."
Police were notified that the snowboarder had been found Dec. 18, at roughly 11:20 a.m.
The B.C. Coroners Service is now conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances of how the person came to their unexpected death, along with the RCMP.
