One person died on SilverStar Mountain yesterday but the details of the matter have not been released.

Director of marketing Ian Jenkins said in an email statement there was a fatality, Dec. 18 in the Powder Gulch area of the mountain.

"In the wake of Saturday's incident, we at SilverStar Mountain Resort offer our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the deceased," he said.

The resort is not commenting on the details of what happened as the RCMP is investigating, he said.

The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"There are no indications at this time that an avalanche occurred," Jenkins said.
