UPDATE: Vernon home targeted by gunfire: RCMP

Bullet holes in trailor window at the Pleasant Valley Manufactured Home Community.

Police are releasing few details about what they call a targeted shooting in Vernon early Wednesday morning.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired at the Pleasant Valley Manufactured Home Community at 4701 Pleasant Valley Road at around 2:30 a.m., Sept. 11, according to an RCMP media release.

The trailer was hit with multiple gun shots. At least three bullet holes can be seen in the window of a home, which is now taped off by police.

One neighbour told iNFOnews.ca they heard "awful big banging" that woke her up.

"I heard shots, then I got up and opened the window, and (saw) some guy running with his back to me," another neighbour said.

He then heard the man running yell, "Get over here we've got to go" before he heard the sound of a vehicle taking off.

The neighbour said the lady living in the trailer was likely in her late 50s and had been there a couple of years. He said they hadn't had any issues previously.

"Her son's here from Alberta, he's been here for a while," the neighbour said.

The neighbour said he was concerned but police turned up within about 15 minutes, and had been there all morning before leaving in the early afternoon.

No injuries were reported to police.

RCMP said the shooting was targeted and not a random act, but didn’t provide any more information.

Anyone who witnessed the shooting or saw anything suspicious at the time of the shooting are asked to call Vernon RCMP at 250-545-7171 and refer to file #2024-15539.
