VERNON - After almost two-years as Vernon's interim fire chief, David Lind has been given the top job permanently.
Lind was appointed as the new Fire Rescue Service director today, Aug. 28, according to a City of Vernon media release. Lind has held the position of interim fire chief for the last 21 months and has 25 years of experience in firefighting.
The city says Lind has guided Vernon Fire Rescue Services through a challenging period gaining the confidence of council by bringing forward a new eight-year strategic plan for the department. Lind has made the case to invest in new self-contained breathing apparatus; a new ladder truck and engine; new safety equipment for firefighters and has placed additional firefighters in service.
Lind will guide Vernon Fire Rescue Services with "wisdom, experience and clear vision," the city says.
