VERNON - A Vernon tow truck driver was rushed to hospital Monday after his truck rolled over top of him.
The Protow Towing employee was picking up a broken down car on Apex Drive in the Foothills around 12:30 p.m., June 8, when the accident happened, RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk says.
“He’d hooked it (car) up and was doing the final lift, the tow truck rolled back over top of him,” Molendyk says.
A witness moved the tow truck off him and emergency services were called. The man was taken to Vernon Jubilee Hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition is unknown.
Police determined there was no criminality involved in the accident and turned the case over to WorkSafe B.C. and Commercial Vehicle Safety and Enforcement.
Trish Knight Chernecki, a spokesperson for WorkSafe B.C., says the incident is being looked into by an investigator and prevention officer.
