Original Publication Date November 02, 2017 - 8:45 AM

VERNON - RCMP confirm someone died in the two-vehicle collision involving a school bus on Highway 97 west of Falkland early this morning.

RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dan Moskaluk says in a media release at around 6:40 a.m., Nov. 2, emergency crews attended a two vehicle collision on Highway 97 near Back Road in Westwold.

"Upon first responders attendance it was confirmed that the adult male driver of a late model sedan was deceased as a result of the collision with an area school bus," Moskaluk says in the release. "At the time of the crash the bus was occupied solely by the driver who was uninjured as a result."

Witnesses say the sedan was westbound when it crossed the center line and collided with the eastbound school bus.

RCMP are not releasing the identity of the person killed in the crash.

The crash closed the highway for most of the day before reopening in both directions at approximately 3 p.m.
