PENTICTON - The Penticton Vees have the commitment of forward Tak Anholt (98) for the 2015-16 season.

President, General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson, says Anholt fills a need upfront next season

“We will have considerable turnover at the forward position after this season," Harbinson says. "We believe Tak will be able to make a quick transition from Prep hockey to the BCHL level. He has good size, excellent skill and more importantly he is a good person off the ice. He excelled at our camps, and we look forward to working on developing his abilities. ”

Anholt, 16, is currently playing with the Yale Hockey Academy Under-18 Prep team, which is based out of Abbotsford, BC. The Yale Hockey Academy’s Under-18 Prep team is a member of the Canadian Sports School Hockey League (CSSHL) and Anholt has helped Yale to a 2-0 start in their young season.

Anholt is off to a terrific start to the season, as the North Vancouver, BC, product has posted back-to-back hat-tricks in his first two CSSHL games. First, he picked up three goals and four points in a 6-1 win over Pacific Coast Hockey Academy on Friday. Then he followed that up with another three goals and four points in 8-1 romp over the Burnaby Winter Club Under-18 program. In his first two CSSHL games, Anholt has six goals and eight points to lead Yale in scoring.

Prior to joining the Yale Hockey Academy, Anholt played with the Northwest Giants of the BC Major Midget League (BCMML). Anholt had 12 goals and 21 points in 33 games with the Giants last season, as his Giants made it all the way to the BCMML Final before losing out to the Okanagan Rockets; Anholt was teammates with current Vee Dante Fabbro last season.

Before the BCMML Anholt played Bantam hockey at the North Shore Winter Club and he amassed an outstanding 29 goals and 88 points in 58 games as a 15-year-old. Anholt was a teammate of Fabbro and Jost with Team BC at the 2013 Under-16 Western Canada Branch Challenge last November; Anholt and Team BC took home silver.

The Vees organization is pleased to welcome Tak into the fold next year and wish him well during his season at the Yale Academy.
