Vees, Centennials series schedule released

PENTICTON, BC – For the second time in four years, the Penticton Vees will face-off against Merritt Centennials in the BCHL Fred Page Cup playoffs, starting Friday, March 17th, at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The best-of-seven Interior Division Semi-Final starts in Penticton with Games One and Two on Friday, March 17th, and Saturday March 18th, brought to you by BCAA Penticton.

Season Series

October 7th: Merritt 1 at Penticton 5

October 8th: Penticton 4 at Merritt 3 (OT)

October 21st: Penticton 4 at Merritt 2

November 19th: Merritt 2 at Penticton 3 (OT)

December 30th: Merritt 2 at Penticton 4

January 13th: Penticton 2 at Merritt 3

February 1st: Penticton 4 at Merritt 2

Playoff Schedule

GM 1: Mar 17th at SOEC, 7 pm

The Vees won six of seven games against Merritt in the season series, winning all four games at the SOEC; two of their six wins against the Centennials came in overtime.

Penticton earned a bye into the second round of the Fred Page Cup playoffs after finish first in the Interior Division with a 41-13-1-3 record; 15 points better than the second-place Vernon Vipers. The Vees’ 41 wins marked the sixth time in the last 10 seasons they’ve had 40 or more wins in the regular season.

The Merritt Centennials swept the West Kelowna Warriors in the opening round of the Fred Page Cup playoffs. The Cents’ won two of the four games in overtime, including their series clinching win in Game Four on March 7th, 4-3.

These two teams last met in the post-season in 2014, the Vees sweeping Merritt in their opening round match up. Their previous playoff meeting was in 2012, with the Vees beating the Cents’ in five games in the Interior Division Final.

Single game tickets are $16 for adults and $14 for seniors and are available at the Valley First Box Office (at the SOEC), or online at www.valleyfirsttix.com. Students (18 and under) and children are FREE courtesy of Peter Bros. Construction.

Western Canada Cup ticket packages are also on sale, including the newly introduced “Vees Only” package. That’s the Vees’ round-robin games at the WCC, plus the playoff round (seven games) for just $130. Full tournament packages (13 games) are on sale for $179. Fans can purchase their Western Canada Cup packages by phoning the Vees’ Ticket Office at 250-493-8337 (extension 4).

Don’t forget to “Paint the Town Blue!” The Vees are asking fans to wear blue to every playoff game, starting March 17th.
