No shots fired but a Vancouver hotel locked down by police incident

VANCOUVER - A section of Vancouver's downtown core is behind police tape as officers deal with a distraught man inside the Fairmont Pacific Rim hotel.

The incident began at about 2:30 a.m. when Const. Brian Montague says the man walked into the hotel carrying a hand gun.

Guests have been asked to stay in their rooms while officers try to resolve the situation.

No shots have been fired and no one has been hurt.

Montague says the area of the hotel lobby has been locked down the traffic is being diverted away from the hotel, along the Vancouver waterfront near busy Canada Place and a large convention centre.

Montague says the situation will be updated as information becomes available.
