Angered by tweet on cereal commercial, top Republican calls for boycott of MSNBC

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The head of the Republican National Committee is urging GOP officials to avoid appearances on MSNBC because of what he called the network's "petty and demeaning" attacks.

The most recent incident that angered GOP chief Reince Priebus was a tweet by the network Wednesday that suggested the right wing will hate a new advertisement for Cheerios because it featured a biracial couple. MSNBC quickly tweeted an apology on the same account.

That didn't satisfy Priebus, who said Thursday he will no longer appear on MSNBC or allow Republican National Committee officials on. Priebus urged other Republicans to avoid the network, where the shows usually lean left.

Priebus wants a public apology from network chief Phil Griffin. Griffin did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
