Manhattan Theatre Club to embrace bold works as part of New York City Center program

NEW YORK, N.Y. - Manhattan Theatre Club will launch a new initiative at New York City Center showcasing bold new works, with two on tap this fall: The new rock musical "Murder Ballad" and Tarell Alvin McCraney's "Choir Boy."

The new initiative, called "The Studio at Stage II," is expected to be a place where fresh new works can be presented to audiences with an appetite for risk. Tickets for the two shows will be $30.

Previews for "Murder Ballad," written by Julia Jordan and Juliana Nash, begin Oct. 30. Previews for "Choir Boy," begin June 18, 2013.

Manhattan Theatre Club also announced a new partnership with the Off-Broadway troupe Ars Nova. Each year, MTC and Ars Nova will select four playwrights to receive Writer's Room Commissions and developmental support.
