A line of curling irons with a piece that can detach, leaving users open to a burn hazard, are among this week's recalled consumer products. Others include window shades that pose a strangulation hazard for children.

CURLING IRONS

DETAILS: T3 Twirl 360 Motion-Sensing Auto-Rotating 1.25 inch Curling Irons. Model number 76570 is printed on the label that is placed on the handle of the tool and T3 is printed on the curling iron's barrel. They were sold at Nordstrom and Sephora stores and professional beauty supply distributors nationwide from December 2014 through October 2015.

WHY: The clamp can detach while in use, posing a burn hazard to consumers.

INCIDENTS: 130 reports of loose or detached curling iron clamps including two reports of minor burns.

HOW MANY: About 8,400 in the U.S. and about 800 in Canada.

WINDOW SHADES

DETAILS: Custom made-to-order cellular, roller, soft horizontal and Roman style solar shades. The shades were sold in a variety of custom sizes and colours. The shades do not have any identifying labels or markings on the products. They were sold online and by phone orders at Blinds.com, Blinds Century (aka American Blinds) , Blinds Wholesale, HomeCraft, Home Depot, JustBlinds.com, Nobrainer Blinds, Office Depot, Rugs Direct BFC, Steve's Blinds, Wayfair, and Window World Blinds. The cellular shades were sold from August 2014 through February 2015. The roller shades were sold from September 2010 through September 2013. The soft horizontal shades were sold from July 2010 through March 2012. The Roman shades were sold from September 2010 through July 2013.

WHY: The blinds pose various strangulation hazards.

INCIDENTS: None reported.

AIR CONDITIONING AND HEATING UNITS

DETAILS: This recall involves GE Zoneline Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC) and heating units with listed serial numbers. These units are most often used in hotels, apartment buildings and commercial spaces. The GE logo is affixed to the control panel door. Units with the following models and serial numbers are included in this recall: Model prefix AZ40E09E, AZ41E07E, AZ41E09E, AZ41E12E, AZ41E15E, AZ61H07E, AZ61H09E, AZ61H12E, and AZ61H15E. Serial numbers beginning with AT, AV, AZ, DT, DV, DZ, FT, FV, FZ, GS, GT, GV, GZ, HT, HV, HZ, LT, LV, LZ, MT, MV, MZ, RT, RV, RZ, ST, SV, SZ, TT, TV, TZ, VS, VT, VV, VZ, ZS, ZT, ZV, ZZ. They were sold at GE authorized representatives and HVAC distributors nationwide from January 2010 through December 2013.

WHY: Moisture from outdoor air can accumulate near the unit's heater when the unit is operated with the vent door continuously open. This, along with two shorted electrical components, can create an electrical ground path and arcing, posing a risk of fire.

INCIDENTS: Three reports involving smoke or fire associated with the unit's heater resulting in about $30,000 of property damage. No injuries have been reported.

GOLF VEHICLES

DETAILS: The 2014-2016 Precedent gas golf and transport vehicles, which vary in size, models and colours, are used for short-distance transportation. They were sold at authorized Club Car dealers nationwide between July 2014 and August 2015. The recalled vehicles can be identified by the model and serial numbers. Serial numbers are above and to the right of the accelerator pedal. The model number is the first two letters of the serial number. Recalled models and serial numbers include: Precedent 12 Gas with model number SL and serial number range 1438-497172 to 1604-619273, Precedent 12L Gas with model number SM and serial number range 1503-527138 to 1603-619240, Precedent 12 4-Passenger Gas with model number SN and serial number range 1502-525626 to 1604-619488, Precdent 12 Signature Gas with model number SU and serial number range 1516-545869 to 1603-618029, and Precedent 12 Signature 4-Passenger Gas with model number SV and serial number range 1506-530816 to 1546-608008.

WHY: An improperly factory-installed hose clamp can rub and wear a hole in the fuel tank, causing a leak and posing a fire hazard.

INCIDENTS: Three reports that the air intake hose clamp rubbed the fuel tank. No incidents of fire or injuries have been reported.
