LOS ANGELES, Calif. - A Los Angeles man is charged with killing his ex-girlfriend's pet rabbit, sending her grisly photos of its carcass, and threatening to do the same thing to her.

Los Angeles County prosecutors charged Dimitri Diatchenko, of North Hollywood, on Tuesday with cruelty to an animal and making criminal threats.

He's free on bail but couldn't be reached for comment, and it isn't known if he has an attorney.

Prosecutors say Diatchenko killed, skinned, cooked and partially ate the rabbit Dec. 7 after his former lover said they should no longer be roommates.

Authorities say he sent his ex-lover photos of what he did, and when she returned home, he told the woman he would do the same thing to her.

He could face more than four years in prison if convicted.
