Potential jurors questioned in murder trial of former Patriots star Aaron Hernandez

FALL RIVER, Mass. - A Massachusetts judge has excused dozens of potential jurors for various reasons in the murder trial of ex-New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez.

Bristol County Superior Court Judge Susan Garsh on Friday questioned potential jury members one-by-one in open court to see if anyone had a bias, hardship or other concern that would disqualify that person from hearing the case. The questioning could not be heard by people in the audience.

Twenty-one potential jurors were kept in the jury pool, and jury selection is to resume Tuesday. No jurors have been picked yet for the 18-member panel, which will include six alternates.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to killing semiprofessional football player Odin Lloyd in June 2013. Lloyd was found shot to death near Hernandez's home in North Attleborough.
