KELOWNA – Police have now released a photo of the BMW seized as part of a hit and run investigation but still need help finding who was driving it.
The serious collision between the vehicle and a pedestrian along Rutland Road North in Kelowna's North end happened June 22 at 2:26 p.m. Emergency crews were called to the scene of a collision between a pedestrian and a navy blue BMW I Series on Rutland Road North near Klassen Road in Kelowna.
The BMW involved did not remain at the scene but has since been located. The driver has yet to be located or identified. It was last seen eastbound on McCurdy Road. It was found roughly an hour later at 875 Badke Rd., near the intersection of Franklyn Road at Hwy 33.
"Police are seeking any witnesses who observed the vehicle or may have commercial security video, residential security video or dash cam video of the vehicle or may have observed the driver flee after abandoning the vehicle," Cpl. Tania Carroll says.
Kelowna RCMP Forensic Identification Unit along with the RCMP Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service were called to investigate.
The pedestrian remains in serious condition at the Kelowna General Hospital.
Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information that can assist this investigation is asked to call the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300.
